When trying to conceive, there are several important factors to consider and remember.
We have listed some of the simplest and most important things to consider when trying to conceive.


Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle:
Both partners should strive to maintain a healthy lifestyle by eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and avoiding harmful habits such as smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and drug use.

Understand Your Menstrual Cycle:
Understanding the menstrual cycle, particularly ovulation, is crucial. Tracking ovulation can help determine the most fertile days for conception.

Regular Sexual Activity:
To increase chances of conceiving its important to have regular sexual intercourse, especially in the fertile window which is around mid cycle.
You can track ovulation by testing with an OPK (Ovulation predictor kit) or by tracking your Basal Body Temperature (see out BBT blog).

Reduce Stress:
High levels of stress can interfere with fertility. Finding healthy ways to manage stress, such as relaxation techniques or exercise, can be beneficial.

Limit Exposure to Harmful Substances:
Both partners should avoid exposure to harmful substances such as environmental toxins, certain chemicals and toxic paints which can impact fertility.

Seek Medical Advice:
If you're struggling to conceive after several months of trying, it's important to seek advice. A healthcare provider can help identify any underlying issues and provide guidance on fertility treatments if necessary.

Preconception Checkup:
Before trying to conceive, both partners should consider a preconception checkup with a healthcare provider. This can help identify any potential health concerns or genetic risks that may affect fertility or pregnancy.

Supplementation:
Women who are trying to conceive or are already pregnant should take a daily folate or folinic acid supplement to reduce the risk of certain birth defects.
(not to be confused with Folic Acid which only 50% of the population can actually absorb).
